Apple October Event Wrap-up

Apple has just finished their Event in the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Howard Gilman Opera House and have unveiled several new products which we have covered below. The event opened up in style as always with a short video playing of animated different Apple Logo’s, followed by a video dedicated to New York.


First up Tim Cook states that 51% of Mac users are new customers, and 1 million active install base. MacOS Mojave was covered again including it’s new features including Dark Mode. Tim Cook went on to unveil the new MacBook Air with Retina display, the display glass is now bigger with 13.3″ display and 50% less bezel, FaceTime HD Camera is perfect for Group FaceTime. the Mac also has Touch ID and Apple’s T2 security chip. the keyboard is 4 x more stable than the last version and force touch trackpad with 20% more surface area.

The Audio on the MacBook is 25% louder and 2x more bass and three-mic array, the Macbook has two thunderbolt 3 ports, Hey Siriis also included, the CPU is the 8th generation and has up to 16GB memory and 1.5TB SSD. The MacBook Air says all day battery life and weighs 2.75 pounds. The shell is made from aluminium alloy which is 100% recycled aluminium. The starting price of the new macbook air is $1199, you can per-order the new Mac immediately and launches on November 7th.


Apple also today announced new MacBook Pro graphics options that will bring powerful Radeon Pro Vega graphics to MacBook Pro for the first time. These new graphics options deliver up to 60 percent faster graphics performance for the most demanding video editing, 3D design and rendering workloads

Apple Also unveiled 60 new today at Apple sessions, teaching things like Siri shortcuts, AR, Photo Lab for kids and much more.

Tim Cook then announced that Apple sold 44.2million iPads in 2018, and unveiled an all new iPad Pro with no home button and a new magnetic connector for the Apple Pencil and is always charging the Apple Pencil, the display is edge to edge Liquid Retina display just like the iPhone XR, the size of the iPad display is now 11″ compared to the previous 10.5″ within the same body size. Apple also unveiled a new 12.9″ iPad Pro. The new iPad is 15% thinner at just 5.99mm.

The new iPad has Face ID, 7mp camera, Four speaker Audio woofer and tweeter pairs. The new iPad has the same gestures as introduced on the iPhone X last year, the iPad pros have the new A12X bionic chip with 10 billion transistors and 7 nanometer technology. The iPad Pro now has a new USB-C connector replaces the Lightning connector in support of the powerful ways iPad Pro is used. Incredibly versatile, USB-C offers power for charging, supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 for high-bandwidth data transfers up to twice the speed to and from cameras and musical instruments, and drives external displays up to 5K. With USB-C, iPad Pro can even be used to charge an iPhone.

The new Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard Folio, available for purchase separately, give iPad Pro users new levels of precision and productivity. The second-generation Apple Pencil magnetically attaches to iPad Pro for pairing and wireless charging. It becomes even more powerful and intuitive as users can select just the right tool or brush with a simple double tap on Apple Pencil within apps like Notes. Powerful apps from leading developers like Adobe, Autodesk and Procreate also give users the power to be even more creative than ever before.

iOS 12 brings new gestures to iPad that are already familiar to iPhone X and iPhone XS users including tap to wake and swiping to go home, access Control Center and for multitasking. The new Shortcuts app helps iPad users link together powerful, yet simple automated workflows for photo editing, video editing and file and asset management. Improvements to Photo import and support for native RAW image editing give photographers more efficient ways to work and multitask on iPad Pro.

Group FaceTime now makes it easy to connect with groups of friends or colleagues at the same time. Participants can be added at any time, join later if the conversation is still active and choose to join using video or audio from an iPhone, iPad or Mac. With new Animoji and customizable Memoji, users can take advantage of the large screen on iPad to add more personality to photos and videos in Messages and FaceTime.

Adobe took to the stage to talk about photoshop on the iPad Pro, and show off how good their app is using the Apple Pencil. By using a double tap of the button on the Apple Pencil you can zoom in and out to pixel level with ease. Pricing starts at 11 inch $799 and the 12 inch starts at $999 and you can per-order the new iPad Pro immediately and launches on November 7th.

Tim Cooke also mentioned that iOS 12 was running on 60% of devices and that 12.1 will be released today.
