Apple Restricts Sidecar integration

Sidecar is a feature that Apple touted at WWDC19 and is designed to let you use your iPad as a secondary display for your Mac. Apple has decided to restrict Sidecar only to iPads with Apple Pencil support.

Even if your iPad supports iPadOS 13 it still will not run sidecar, These are the models that will not have Sidecar, even with the latest update:

  1. iPad Air 2

  2. iPad mini 4

  3. iPad (5th generation)

The iPad models that can be used with Sidecar running iPadOS 13 and later:

  1. iPad (6th generation)

  2. iPad (7th generation)

  3. iPad mini 5

  4. iPad Air (3rd generation)

  5. iPad Pro (all generations)

Mac models using macOS Catalina:

  1. MacBook Pro introduced in 2016 or later

  2. MacBook introduced in 2016 or later

  3. MacBook Air introduced in 2018 or later

  4. iMac introduced in 2017 or later, plus iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

  5. iMac Pro

  6. Mac mini introduced in 2018 or later

  7. Mac Pro introduced in 2019
