Apple takes Group FaceTime offline to fix major security bug

Apple has been alerted to a major security bug which allows users to start a Group FaceTime call and hear the audio of others before they even pick up.

Users simply start a FaceTime video call with someone in their contacts, swipe up from the bottom and choose “Add Person.”

Next, add your own phone number, which starts a Group FaceTime with you and the person you originally called, and you will be able to hear their audio even if they didn’t accept the call.

To fix the bug Apple has taken Group FaceTime offline and updated its system status webpage this evening to confirm that Group FaceTime is currently unavailable.

Apple has said the issue will be fixed in a software update later in the week.
