BT plans on getting back into the mobile phone business

A while back we reported that BT was trying to purchase EE, whilst these plans are still in place they are currently no further forward, so in the meantime BT has announced plans to launch a range of 4G subscriptions.

The service will use spectrum provided via a partnership with EE that BT owns itself. BT also plans to enter the market aggressively with its cheapest offer priced at a discounted rate of £5 a month for existing BT broadband customers and £10 for non BT customers, which includes 200 minutes of calls and 500MB of 4G data.

The mobile deals it has announced so far are all Sim-card-only, meaning that calls, data and texts are included but not a handset.
