Google Plans on killing off part of it’s search

Google has disclosed to customers and partners its plans via email on Tuesday to discontinue it’s GSS service. Existing customers of GSS can keep using it for the life of their current license, but from April 1st Google will stop selling new licenses and renewals. Once the licence expires a customer’s account will “automatically convert” to the company’s CSE (Custom Search Engine).

CSE is a free, advertising-supported version of Google’s search technology, that provides similar features and functions to GSS. The email was discovered by Fortune.
