HomePod will support third party services and beta testers

With WWDC still fresh we are looking back at some things that’s were not mentioned but spotted in the slides. The HomePod is officially gaining support for third-party music streaming services in a future update. The slide can be seen but there was no mention so currently there is no timeline on when that will release in iOS 14. This could potentially mean that at their September event Apple could mention this fact and also unveil a new smaller version.

Interestingly Apple has also sent an invitation to select users via email to beta test the new HomePod firmware. The invitation does not specify what features, bug fixes or improvements are being tested as part of the initiative.

According to posts online, users who decide to participate in the AppleSeed program must agree to confidentiality agreements and limit discussions about the software to official feedback.
