Samsung held their unpacked event today and unveiled a slew of product updates:
First up was Galaxy buds pro, these feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), a two-way speaker system called System In Package (SIP). 360 Audio, Dolby Atmos tracking just like the AirPods Pro special audio. IPX7 water resistance rating, the buds come in three colours and cost £199 and will be available from January 15th.
Galaxy SmartTag has been unveiled that will use the find feature in the SmartThings app for your smartphone that helps users locate their belongings just like the Tile Tracker and Apple’s rumoured AirTags. SmartTags users AR which directs you to the exact location of your missing item. SmartTags costs $29.99 (£29) each.
Galaxy S21 was the third item to be announced, the S21 comes in two models, the S21 and S21+ which includes 5G. The phones come in a metal design instead of glass and come in four colours for the S21 and three colours in the S21+. The phones have adaptive refresh rates so it changes automatically to give you the best display experience. The S21 comes in a 6.2” display and the S21+ comes in a 6.7” display.
The camera has a 10MP front-facing camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 12MP wide-angle camera and a 64MP telephoto lens. Portrait mode allows you to adjust the blur strength and gives Enhanced auto white balance for the front-facing camera. Samsung also boasts 8K video recording and 33-megapixel screen grabs from the video. Priced at £769 for the S21 and £949 for the S21+
Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G which features an all-glass design. The Ultra has S Pen compatibility means you can finesse and fine-tune while editing your videos down to the last frame, with the precision that your finger simply cannot touch. The camera has a 40MP front-facing camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 108MP wide-angle camera and a 10MP telephoto lens. The device offers a 100x Space Zoom. Priced at £1,149 for the 128GB, £1,199 for the 256GB and £1,329 for the 512GB model. Samsung also announced the S Pen and S Pen Pro.
Samsung allows you to use the camera on your smartphone to make sure you are getting the correct form when using the Samsung Fitness workout.
Interestingly Samsung has teamed up with Google to bring Google Duo to your Samsung device which you can mirror it onto your Samsung TV.
Samsung also took the opportunity to remind everyone that SmartThings works with Google again and includes Android Auto so you can connect your Samsung Phone with better integration. Users can also access Google assistance with Android Auto.
