WhatsApp tries desperate new method to Keep users

Since news broke last month that Whatsapp would be changing the way users messages are accessed for Ad usage the company has seen a mass exodus of users.

Now the company is using the chat app to send out a message, via the Status section of WhatsApp, in an attempt to calm fears that more data is being shared with its parent company Facebook.

Four messages have begun appearing which include one which states, “One thing that isn’t new is our commitment to your privacy.” Whilst another simply says, “WhatsApp can’t read or listen to your personal conversations as they’re end-to-end encrypted.”

Once viewed, these Status alerts instantly disappear, but WhatsApp will be hoping it's enough to influence concerned users.

Meanwhile users have found apps such as Signal and Telegram a much better choice and these last minute attempts by the Facebook owned company may be too little to late.
